River Legacy Park’s Annual Cardboard Regatta

18 Apr

From www.riverlegacy.org:

22nd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, April 30, 2011, 9 am to 4 pm at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

The Cardboard Boat Regatta challenges amateur boat builders to design, build and navigate boats made entirely of corrugated cardboard.  Come and enjoy the fun as you watch the masterful maneuvers of boats braving the waves at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

In addition to hosting the competition, the region’s largest water park will open the popular Tornado ride and Hook’s Lagoon for guests and participants to enjoy.  Want to get a head start?  Check out the following You Tube videos: Part 1 and Part 2.

Build a boat on site in two hours

Don’t have time to build a boat before race day?  Sign up for Build-on-Site.  You’ll construct a Guppy (2-person) boat at Hurricane Harbor in just two hours.

The races of boats built on site will take place in Hurricane Harbor’s Wave Pool after the adult time-trial races.  A trophy is awarded for the fastest finish!
