Gorbella’s Story Time at Mochalux

24 Mar

Gorbella’s is sponsoring a free Cozy Corner Storytime Mondays beginning at 10am at Mochalux Coffee & Tea Company, located at 1101 east Bardin Road Suite #101 in Arlington (at Collins and Bardin, just south of I-20).  The story time, designed for kids ages 5 and under, includes structured play, a story, and a take-home craft.  Snacks, coffee, and beverages are available for purchase and during the story time, a portion of all proceeds go towards Gorbella’s.

Gorbella’s is a wonderful nonprofit organization whose mission is to help families with young children overcome social isolation by providing support, education and resources, promoting healthier lifestyles, and providing a communal place for families to gather, network, learn, grow, eat, and play.

Gorbella’s is in the process of raising money to purchase property of their own where they plan to open a community resource center to offer support, education, connections, and play for young children.  For more information about Gorbella’s the story time or to donate, please click here:   http://www.gorbellas.org/

I attended the event last week with a friend of mine, her two kids, and my three kids, and it was great!  Mochalux is a family-owned business, and it understands the needs of families.  The establishment itself was impeccably clean.  I let the baby crawl around on the floor and he did not get a speck of dirt on him.  It’s a very open concept, which is divided by a half-wall.  One area is set up like a living room, with large couches and chairs as well as a few tables and chairs.  It’s a great area to meet up with friends and chat while the kids sit on the floor and play.  The other area has tables and chairs.  Mochalux offers free wi-fi and has a drive-thru as well.

The kids devoured the hot chocolate and cookies I ordered for them.  I ordered a decaf lemon ginger tea and it was really yummy.  Mochalux is receptive to feedback about how to make the environment as family-friendly as possible.  They are also a nursing-friendly establishment!

If you have some free time on Mondays, come and check it out.  Gorbella’s needs to raise about $40,000.00 more to be able to open the community center.  Imagine what a difference a place like that would make in your life!  I know I would be there doing mommy and me yoga for sure!
